”Blatant corruption” – More patterns of assistance spotted as Celtic fans react to cup final VAR incompetence

It’s a running joke now but it’s not even funny as Celtic fans spot more honest mistakes in todays League Cup final between Aberdeen and Rangers.

The Pittodrie side were holding their own until a 76th minute James Tavernier goal forced the Dons to attack the Ibrox club.

And in the dying minutes, Barry Robson’s side looked like they had a shout for a penalty as Duk seemed to be hauled down by Ibrox goalkeeper, Jack Butland.

Celtic fans call into question another VAR failure

Whether it is a penalty or not is neither here nor there but the fact that it wasn’t even checked just lends fuel to the fire that Rangers are still benefiting from a pattern of assistance that only they seem to get.

Put it this way, VAR checked a supposed Aberdeen handball about a minute before Rangers opened the scoring today at Hampden. A coincidence?

Look, all the Celtic fans want is consistency with the decisions of the match referee and VAR officials. All they can see at the moment is decisions still favouring one team in the SPFL and it’s time this was questioned.

But as we all know, the media silence and that from Hampden will be deafening as the mission to get Rangers winning the League Cup for the first time in their history is complete.

One Celtic fan on the thread said, “Why are clubs standing back and doing nothing, it’s blatant corruption in favour of one team.

Everyone thought VAR would stop this, it just emphasises it. Not saying Aberdeen deserved anything from today but they were entitled to 2 penalties that could’ve changed the game.”

Another went on, “And THAT is why I don’t watch Scottish football for the most part anymore. I wonder how many others there are doing the same? In other words, the lifeblood of the game has walked away.

And one summed it all up quite succinctly, “One word DALLAS.”
