‘If I’m being honest’ – The pattern of assistance Rangers got that has left David Martindale fuming; wants apology

Livingston manager, David Martindale

David Martindale is the surprising next SPFL manager to come out and have a go at the SFA for Ragers benefitting from a pattern of assistance this season.

The Livingston gaffer was fuming with the governing body after it was revealed that the SFA apologised to Hibs this week for errors made by the refereeing system.

The BBC published a report this month where they highlighted 13 VAR errors that have been made this season.

Incredibly, Sevco benefitted from three of these honest mistakes and one of these was against Livingston and it left Martindale raging.

“VAR should have recommended an on-field review after Rangers’ Ross McCausland was awarded a penalty. Decision should then have been no penalty (Livingston v Rangers, 12 Nov)”

Upon hearing Hibs got an apology, the Livi gaffer wants the SFA to apologise to all teams affected by the mistakes.

Martindale said, “They [SFA] have come out and set a precedent. I would expect the same for all clubs, not just the bigger clubs if I am being honest.” (Daily Record page 51)

Of course that simply won’t happen. Unless you send a dossier with threats and tears then the SFA will do what they do best, SFA.

Don’t hold your breath Davy but here’s a thought. Instead of allowing your team to be steamrollered by Rangers, why don’t you get them to try against them like you do with Celtic?
