”Perennial unused substitute” – Celtic fans don’t need to worry after Wolves experts Fabio Silva run down

The Fabio Silva transfer saga is one that dominated the headlines yesterday.

With accounts like The 4th Official claiming the Portuguese striker knocked back Celtic in favour of Rangers, the Ibrox hordes are rejoicing at thought of getting one over on us.

However, despite the fact he cost £35m, the Celtic fans were never worried about not landing the 21-year-old. And if anyone had any doubts or fears about this player then they need worry no more.

Steve Madley from The Athletic gave his verdict on Rangers’ new bear, Fabio Silva shortly before the forward signed on the dotted line.

Madley said, “He badly needs a move away. He’s not played in the Premier League for almost two months. I think it was early September when he last started a game.

“So he’s clearly fallen out of favour at Wolves. It’s doing no one any good for him to be a perennial unused substitute which is kind of what he’s become.

Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers

“So hopefully, from his point of view, he gets up to Rangers, scores a few goals and I think it’s unlikely, the way the last three years have gone, that he’s going to completely resurrect his career at Wolves.” (Clyde Superscoreboard)

Madley then went on to say he lacks the physicality and pace to play in the EPL but he does have good movement.

This does have shades of Aaron Ramsey about it. With reports suggesting that Rangers are picking up all of Silvia’s £80k per week salary, you do have to wonder where this money is coming from.

I suppose the proof will be in the pudding but it will take some time to get the youngster up to speed. I reckon at least £160k worth of time and by then, his loan deal will already be almost a month in. Never change Rangers, never change.

  1. This very well may come back and bite them on the arse but at least they spending .70 million plus in bank ,a team that won a treble ,was an unstoppable force last year ,it’s a worry when a bunch of journey men players outdo us on the continent and are given this impetus by our inaction to arrest this slump
