“I’ve been part of conversations” – The Celtic board’s true feelings on the Green Brigade revealed

Celtic fans following the team in Europe.

The ongoing dispute between the Green Brigade and the Celtic board doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.

The Parkhead suits banned the supporters groups due to serious safety concerns and whilst talks are ongoing to allow them back into the stadium, they are progressing very slowly.

There will be hope that the Green Brigade will be back in time for the Glasgow Derby but, in truth, it really needs to happen before that because the team’s performances are honking.

But it seems that the return of the GB could be a long way off as John ‘Yogi’ Hughes reveals the Celtic board’s true feelings towards the fan group.

Hughes said, “I think what’s happening here behind the scenes is I don’t think the club wants them back at all. I don’t think they have any intention of letting them back.

“What I think, in my view, is that the club want them to bend the knee, the club want them to apologise, the club want to turn them into some sort of vanilla choir.

Celtic manager, Brendan Rodgers

“I’ve been able to be part of conversations where this has come up in the presence of board members and I can assure you they didn’t forget the COVID season.

“And they have no love for the Green Brigade. They have no love at all and if they can get rid of them, they absolutely would do.

“They have been waiting to get them in the long grass and it seemed to me an opportune time just when they had a couple of things where they could nail them all.

“And because of the furore over the Palestinian flags all the rest of it, they just decided to take advantage of that.

“But I would suggest that they have been collating information and waiting for an opportunity to get them in the long grass for a long time.” (A Celtic State of Mind)

Good to see the Celtic board are looking after the very fans that help to pay their very inflated wages.

I don’t care what anyone says, the Green Brigade are missed. Celtic Park is like a library without them there and the sooner they are allowed back in, the better.

Because this league title has £60m riding on it and if this Celtic board allow that to happen then the COVID season will be a picnic in comparison to the criticism they will get for that.

  1. Not surprised if the board are actively seeking to get rid of the GB at all. Old men in place for decades, out of touch and cannot handle criticism. The Palestine incident showed their true colours. The treatment of Dom McKay showed how some individuals (Lawell) run the club as their own. Nepotism rife, wasteful use of money and we are not allowed to call them out. They will ruin our club.
