Tom English outstanding praise for ‘brave’ Postecoglou

It’s not very often that Tom English gets much praise from the Celtic bloggersphere.

But this is one of those times he gets it on here.

After a week where the criticism of being knocked out of the Champions League prompted the Celtic boss to call out the Scottish press for allegedly having an ‘agenda‘ regarding the teams performances, Tom English has praised the Celtic’s gaffer approach to the European campaign.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, English said, “What I’ve liked about Celtic in the Champions League is that that they don’t just want to survive. And I said this before the game the other night.

They don’t want to just survive or defend their way to a point or an ugly one nil. They want to try and play. They want to try and progress, they want to test themselves.

And Postecoglou has said to you learn nothing if you park the bus. You learn nothing from that. And you don’t progress if you keep parking the bus.

So he wants to see what these players are capable of. And that demands a huge element of bravery for the manager to say no with this is the way we’re going to play whether it’s Real Madrid or whether it’s Hibs, we’re going to play the same way.

And if it means that Real Madrid give us a bit of a beating, we’ll learn from that and I’ll take the criticism that comes with that.

But this is what we’re going to do next season will be better. The following season will be better than that.

It takes a lot of kind of moral strength to be able to say that and belief.”

And that is how the manager will continue to approach every game this season.

You can bet that the team will be better off next season for their experiences in the Champions League this season and I cannot wait to see how we fare in Europe’s top competition again.
