Barry Ferguson questions Celtic’s bottle for title fight. He’s not been paying attention

Match Day Celtic Park

The real football starts back on Saturday and next up it’s Motherwell at Celtic Park.

The Hoops will be keen to get back to winning ways after all the talk of the last fortnight is how much of a shock it was to drop three points at St Mirren.

Yes, it was a shock, but these things happen and other teams will drop points at various stages of the season so the knee jerk reaction of the media and pundits to that result has been over the top.

And it looks like Barry Ferguson has got himself a wee bit carried away as well.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football show, Barry has urged his team to pick up the three points at Tynecastle on Saturday so *Rangers can go top. All well and good, but what he says afterwards is just plain daft, “There’s plenty of time [in the title race] but they need to up the performances and that needs to start at 1230pm at Tynecastle on Saturday.

“It was a surprise result last week in terms of Celtic. I never seen it coming. I probably think if you ask anybody, nobody would have seen St Mirren taking three points off Celtic and now there’s only two points in it.

“And Rangers need to go to Tynecastle on Thursday (game’s on Saturday Barry) and make sure they come away with three points and put a bit of pressure on Celtic.

“Now I fully expect Celtic to beat Motherwell but you never know. You go one point ahead, you’re top of the league for a period of time and you throw it back at Celtic and see if they can handle it or not.”

See if Celtic can handle it or not?

Did Ferguson not watch us last season when we were decimated with injuries and kept the pressure on *Rangers to overturn a six point deficit in February?

The only club that needs to see if they can handle anything is the Ibrox club as, so far, they have failed every big test that has been thrown at them this season.
