Just when you think things really couldn’t get any worse for our friends across the city, along comes the Champions League.
The Kings of The Coefficient fans went into the group stages full of confidence believing they could qualify after their European adventures last season.
Unfortunately for them, the club had other ideas as they sold Calvin Bassey and Co to help prop up the balance sheet whilst investing fractions of the money they earned from qualifying for the tournament.
So, what did they expect would happen?
They found out sharpish in the Amsterdam ArenA as Ajax took them to the cleaners and polished them off with a scouring 4-0 win.
Three goals in the first half all but killed the tie and the Dutch masters took their foot off the gas, but in truth, it could have been a lot worse.
And Paddy Power, who are famous for their Twitter exploits, took full advantage of the Ibrox clubs misery with two perfectly timed tweets:
