“I wouldn’t rule out” – Roger Hannah makes huge summer transfer claim

The collapse of the Chris Jullien deal may alter Celtic’s transfer plans to bring in another defender before the end of the transfer window.

Or it could make the manager more determined to find the Frenchman a new club in order to bring in his own man.

And one that has been linked to the club is Liverpool defender Ben Davies.

The Englishman had an opportunity to sign for the club last season under Neil Lennon but when Liverpool came calling his head was turned and the rest, as they say, is history.

Speaking on Clyde 1 Superscoreboard, journalist Roger Hannah made a prediction on Davies to Celtic whilst claiming that the club are more likely to be looking to secure longer term, permanent deals and avoid the loan market, “Come January, it was noticeable that he was a little bit more picky and who he brought in, and you can argue Maeda was a loan, but it was one that was always going to be turned into a permanent deal.

There’s no option with that. But O’Riley came in, Hatate came in and he [Postecoglou] was more definite on who and what he wanted and that they were permanent signings, all on long term contracts.

I would think the majority of players coming in to Celtic between now and the end of August will be permanent signings on long term contracts that Ange Postecoglou thinks can bolster their squad.

There might well be a loan signing coming in and it might well be Ben Davies. I wouldn’t rule out Ben Davies coming on a permanent contract.”

With a £4m asking price, would Davies be value for money considering he hasn’t kicked a competitive football in over a year?

Not for me.
