“Looks like that Euro money will be safeguarded for court cases”, “The old Rangers must be spinning in their grave” – Sevco accused of ‘illegal price fixing’

Well, well, well. Isn’t this a grand story?

And it seems a possible court case and a fine is heading Ibrox way. As the Govan club stand accused of colluding with JD Sports and Elite Sports of fixing prices of replica tops, we await the result of the investigation by the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA).

In a report by STV News, Michael Grenfell CMA said, “We don’t hesitate to take action when we have concerns that companies may be working together to keep costs up.

“Football fans are well-known for their loyalty towards their teams.

“We are concerned that, in this case, Elite, JD Sports and, to some extent, Rangers, may have colluded to keep prices high, so that the two retailers could pocket more money for themselves at the expense of fans.”

Quite the accusation and it seems it spanned, at least in Rangers case, over the course of a couple of months.

But the question is, if they didn’t know this was going on prior to their alleged involvement in this, why didn’t they?

This will be a rather interesting case to come up especially after Phil Mac Ghiolla Bháins Mike Ashley revalation.
