Mark Guidi makes huge claim about Craig Whyte

The ten year anniversary is still brining up memories and old stories about the old Rangers even to this day.

With the standard revisionism amongst their support regarding what happened to their club, you know, how they ‘came out’ of liquidation, there was a story that popped up yesterday that caught my eye.

Listening to The Go Radio Football Show, Mark Guidi made a claim about when he met the man that eventually killed Rangers in a press conference that he had his doubts about him back then, “In the Sunday newspapers we were given an audience with Craig Whyte.

And I remember asking him before kickoff and I asking him, a Rangers supporter, ‘Craig what’s your memories of growing up?

You know he was the ages of myself so it would be Walters nine in a row team, Barry’s team. When you think about that era, and he struggled to answer.

And there was just something in my mind at that time I was saying, you should be rhyming them him off. You should be rhyming it off.

And he said, ‘I can vaguely remember you know, the late Davie Cooper’ and I’m just saying no, obviously David Cooper, but it should have been Richard Gough, Brian Laudrup, Arthur Numan, Barry Ferguson Paul Gascoigne or Walter Smith.

And I just thought there was something just that didn’t quite sit right with me about the authenticity of the backstory in terms of his connection with Rangers, but there you go.”

So if it didn’t sit right, then why not be a journalist and investigate who the man actually was? Why allow him to be heralded as this white (excuse the pun) knight that was rolling up to save Rangers?

But then that would have involved asking questions back then. Uncomfortable questions that would have made him hugely unpopular with the peepul.

And we couldn’t be having that.

So he too, sat back and watched them die.

This week just keeps getting better and better.
