Griffiths faces more trouble after Dundee cup exit
Will this boy ever learn? I mean seriously?
The thirty year old striker is in his last chance saloon this season but at least now it is not his off field antics that are landing him in bother this time.
During Dundee’s 2-0 home loss to St Johnstone in the Premier Sports Cup, the on loan striker kicked a smoke bomb that was thrown onto the pitch, into a crowd of Saints fans.
Now let me stress, it was wrong of them to throw it on in the first place, of course it was, but where is Griffiths’ logic when he decided to launch it back into the crowd?
The video of the incident emerged on social media and shows that the smoke bomb was at the edge of the pitch nowhere near any of the playing, refereeing or ground staff when the former Scotland man decided to kick it back into the crowd.
For me, this is Griffiths all over. Reactive and a liability. He is likely to face a ban if reported to the compliance officer which smacks in the face of James McPake, who plucked him from obscurity to give him his final chance at top flight football.
No doubt frustration paid it’s part as the Dundee manager bemoaned his side’s wastefulness in front of goal yet again,
“Again, it is a broken record and I am coming out and saying the same things.
“When you are creating gilt-edged chances, you have to take them no matter what level you are playing at but particularly against better sides.
“You know that when they get a chance they are going to hurt you.”
Griffiths would do well to focus his energy into hitting the back of the net for his new team than the opposition fans.
