The time when Ange Postecoglou was FAVOURITE for Rangers job

Lisbon Lions Stand, Celtic Park

No, I am not lying.

This really did happen. Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou was actually one of the favourites to land the Rangers job back in 2017.

When Ange resigned from the Socceroos, speculation mounted back in November 2017 that he could be about to take over the Ibrox hotseat after the departure of Pedro Caixinha.

In what was one of the best of the Banter Years, Caixinha was succeeded by Graeme Murty and then Jimmy Nichol but it could have oh so different had Postecoglou been offered and taken the job.

In the November of 2017, Postecoglou’s odds tumbled from 25/1 to 3/1 with Oddschecker spokesman George Elek saying at the time, ” The former Melbourne Victory manager has accounted for 76% of bets in the market this morning, in the next Rangers manager market.

The sheer amount of money coming for Postecoglou has forced him into third favourite for the role behind McLeish and McInnes.”

Thankfully, this move never transpired and the Steven Gerrard era was born but could you just imagine it if Ange was appointed by them?

I’m away to wash my eyes out with bleach!
