“We can all guess” – Celtic pundit makes Scott Brown manager prediction

The Brendan Rodgers appointment at Celtic has caused a multitude of headlines over the last 36 hours.

Who would have guessed three weeks ago that we would be sitting here tonight talking about him as the new Celtic manager in place of Ange Postecoglou.

But what the Rodgers appointment also did was spark rumours that legendary former Celtic captain, Scott Brown could have been set to return as Rodgers’ No 2.

It was obviously just paper talk. In no way could I see Brown giving up being his own man to work under Rodgers.

But could he one day become the main man at Paradise? Former Celtic striker, Frank McAvennie believes so.

Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie said, “I would think so.

“Either way he will do what is good for Scott, that is one thing I know about him.

“We can all guess but Scott will do what he wants and he will do it for him.

“He likes Brendan so if he were to come back as his number two I think that would be a stepping stone. Then in three years or so he would go and step into his shoes.

“He has got that aspiration to be a manager. I think Scott wants it and if he came back it would be as a pathway to being the manager of Celtic.“

Obviously we all know he’s not coming back as Rodgers second in command. That job belongs to John Kennedy now.

But Broony will have aspirations to become the Celtic manager one day.  And I believe he could do it. But only if he continues his upward trajectory at Fleetwood Town.

Next season will be huge for the former Celtic man. Next season Fleetwood need to improve on the 13th place finish in League One.

Because that is the only way we will see if Brown has the credentials to make it in management, never mind becoming a Celtic manager one day.

Scott Brown opens up on emotional Celtic Park return as Dons player

Scott Brown is one of the most successful Celtic captains in the club’s history.

Many would argue that Broony is the best captain since the late, great, Billy McNeill.

Leading the club to a second ten in a row and a Quadruple Treble, when Broony left the club, it should have been in front of a packed Celtic Park.

But COVID robbed him of that opportunity and the first time he returned to the stadium, he was in the red of Aberdeen.

Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Broony opened up on that emotional return and said, “It was hard obviously going back to Celtic Park.

“Going into the away dressing room and then going to warm up on the wrong side the pitch.

“Fourteen years since I’ve been on that page beforehand and warming up on that side.

“So it was a weird experience but it’s also a great experience as well because I hadn’t been back and I seen a  lot of the staff that I didn’t see during COVID.

“So it was a good chance for me to say goodbye to them as well.” thanks for all the help.”

The fans will get the chance to say their goodbye’s to Broony at the Ovo Hydro in May when he takes to the stage with Mikael Lustig and guests from Celtic to raise money for the Celtic Foundation.

“I’ve said it in front of 500 Rangers fans” – Listen to what Kevin Thomson’s said as he backs Scott Brown

Can you believe this is still going on?

Almost a week on and a round of Scottish Cup fixtures completed, the crowd at the BBC are still prattling on about the Scott Brown.

After their disgraceful interview with Colin Hendry where he claimed that’s ‘not what captains do’ in relation to his winding up of opponents, but please, Hendry needs to take a long hard at his own conduct.

Hendry’s past is not all glittering as he pled guilty for harassment and went bankrupt owing the taxman and creditors over £1m in payments. And I’ve not even mentioned his charge for drink driving.

That was an outstanding gaffe by the BBC to court the opinion of someone talking about the character of Scott Brown but it seems that they have tried to atone for that by speaking to the former Celtic captain’s best mate and former Rangers player, Kevin Thomson.

Have a listen to this:

The BBC have had an absolute nightmare here and it is not the first time they have made such a high profile gaffe in respect to the guests they invite on their show.

Will they ever learn?

Probably not.

No wonder they are losing all credibility amongst football fans.
