Will we miss Giakoumakis? These stats say ‘Yes’

Match Day Celtic Park

Now this is not an article designed to slate Giakoumakis.

I am merely asking a question as the general concensus seems to be that many Celtic fans are not too fussed about losing the big Greek striker.

Obviously there are caveats to that. The main one being that we have in a manger of Ange Postecoglou’s stature that if he sees fit to let him go then there is nothing to worry about.

We also have Oh in the building and early indications show that he will be a handy player.

We also have players throughout the team adding to the teams goal tally so we won’t struggle to find the back of the net. Especially when we are averaging over three goals per game without the striker even starting.

But these stats may show that, over time, we could regret letting him go:

A strike rate of a goal every 2.1 games is impressive and he did step in for Kyogo last season when he was injured and did a pretty decent job.

GG is a good striker. He definitely gave us a different dimension but in Oh, it looks like we have a more well rounded player.

Only time will tell but I for one hope that these stats don’t come back to haunt us.
