A video has surfaced on social media which casts serious doubts on VAR’s decision to rule Kyogo Furuhashi’s Celtic goal against Rangers offside today.
In a superb counter-attack, Nicolas Kuhn broke away from the Rangers defence and ran down the right flank to square a ball to the Japanese striker which he neatly tucked away in what was thought to be the opening goal of the game.
Kyogo’s superb finish was ruled offside by VAR as Kuhn was said to have been on the wrong side of the Rangers defender.
The decision was marginal but overall it was widely accepted to be correct by most. However, a video posted by The Huddleboard on X has now cast doubt on the accuracy of the VAR call.
Celtic VAR lines ‘not parallel’
I have to admit when I saw the angle that was used on Sky Sports it did look a bit inconclusive as to how the VAR unit could make the call.
And now it seems that there could have been a mistake after The Huddleboard called into question the decision.
Have a look at this:
Even using the cropping tool in windows you can see that these lines are not parallel and therefore shouldn't be used to distinguish if someone is offside or not. Someone's completely at it pic.twitter.com/8e3RRJ0lY2

The fan forum account posted, “Even using the cropping tool in windows you can see that these lines are not parallel and therefore shouldn’t be used to distinguish if someone is offside or not.
“Someone’s completely at it.”
This wouldn’t be the first time Celtic have been undone by VAR and John Beaton after the controversy that surrounded both of them last season.
Thankfully, if it is wrong, it didn’t cost Celtic as they ran out comfortable winners but the next time Brendan Rodgers’ side might not be so lucky.

We know var was only introduced to help the new club , it’s the only danger to Scottish football outside of the cheating officials not having to declare they they are all fans of the old dead rangers
This is not the first time we have been on the wrong side of a decision with non-parallel VAR lines. I believe there is serious cheating going on. Neither the referee nor the VAR official can be trusted to be neutral.
We were cheated out of a goal as usual incompetent official’s
SCOTTISH FOOTBALL IS CORRUPT TO SUIT ONE CLUB THATS AFACT THE CORRUPT SFA.SPFL AND SEVCO SCOTLAND FC 2012 WHIT THE FU-K IS OUR BOARD GONNAE DO ABOUT IT EH USUAL FU-K ALL SHOWER OF SCUMBAGS..P.LAWWELL AND M.NICOLSON DIRTY COWARDS..
Re. the “offside” it’s time for our board to grow a pair and start challenging these cheats.
If you look at the replay and check the cut lines of the grass he is on side
I thought when Kuhn crossed the ball Kyogo was slightly behind him which would mean he was onside.
It was the pass to Kuhn that was said to have been offside mate.
Just because Kyogo scored another goal and Celtic ended up 3 – 0 conquerors doesn’t mean that this huge misjudgement should go unquestioned at the highest level within the SPFL and the SFA and consequently be judged incorrect and the people who made the decision to strike off the goal be struck off VAR indefinitely. John Beaton should also be held to reason as to why he didn’t even bother to take a look at the video available to him by the side of the pitch himself when he (and his linesman) obviously believed it to be onside and a goal in ‘real time’. At the end of the day, if the “officials” are going to take these measurements down to the ridiculous lengths of the last millimetre, then the decision must be a computer generated, “impartial” and “unemotive”, one and not made by system that is proven to make the wrong decisions week-in, week-out!! More money needs to be invested into VAR by the major Clubs in the SPFL if it is to be fully accepted as “trueful” and unflawed.
Why’s there always a next time go after Dallas now Beaton not in var room
VAR was introduced to correct CLEAR and OBVIOUS errors.
The disallowed goal met neither of the criteria, it was not a clear error nor was it an obvious error therefore the goal should have stood.
It also seems strange the ref was not invited to view this clear and obvious error
