Brendan Rodgers wins the Scottish Cup with Celtic

‘Blow in the gut’ – Leon Balogun is on deludamol as pain of losing to Celtic is in full show

The Celtic fans are absolutely loving the amount of pain coming from the Rangers supporters after they watched their team choke on the big stage again against Celtic.

For the fifth time this season, the Ibrox club tried and failed to get one over Brendan Rodgers as the Celtic boss pulled another masterclass to leave our rivals in our wake.

And as the Ibrox meltdown over the Scottish Cup defeat continues, Rangers defender, Leon Balogun’s pain is now in full show after his comments about the Hampden loss.

Balogun’s deluded Hampden stance

Now I’m all for talking up your team’s performance whenever you can but to sit and blatantly try and gloss over the fact that Rangers offered practically nothing, Balogun is just taking the Rangers fans for mugs.

Balogun said (The Courier & Advertiser), “It’s not what you feel right now, going back to the rational side of things, but if we reflect on our season, it started really, really tough, (then a ) great comeback.

“You can’t take it away from us, no matter how disappointed you are, but then in the end results count and the main target we didn’t achieve, so we were not successful in that way.

“Obviously this is another blow in the gut, especially if you look at the performance. I think the boys gave everything.

“It’s hard so soon after the game, but my initial feelings are I don’t think we deserved to lose that game. It was pretty much equal.

“It felt on the pitch like things were going more our way and then – I don’t want to call it a sucker punch because I think it’s a bit disrespectful, but it feels like one.”

Come on now. Look at the stats of the game. (BBC) Celtic had over 63% of the possession. We also had eight shots on goal with half of them on target.

Joe Hart had one save of note to make and whilst Celtic tried to play football, the Ibrox club resorted to hoofball whenever they didn’t have ten men in their own half. And let’s be honest, that happened for much of the game.

Rangers didn’t try to win at Hampden on Saturday. They just tried to stop Celtic. And that is ultimately why we are champions with a double and the Rangers support are now starting to question their manager.
