Why Celtic beating Rangers has just cost Graeme Souness £10,000

Celtic beating Rangers on Saturday means that Brendan Rodgers has sealed his third-ever title as the Hoops boss.

It also puts Celtic one step closer to matching the infamous record 55th title that 12-year-old Rangers claim to own.

I mean who’s counting titles anyway? Well, I bloody am because you know what is going to happen in two years?

Celtic will have 56 titles and Rangers can no longer stupidly claim that they are the ‘world’s most successful club’. Even writing that makes me chuckle.

Anyway, back to the point. Winning the title has also cost Rangers about £3m in prize money (I think) but most importantly automatic access to UEFA’s pot of gold.

Lovely isn’t it? But it’s also costing former Rangers manager, Graeme Souness a pretty penny as well.

Souness gets hit in the pocket after Celtic win

I would love this to be a p*ss take of Souness, I really would but even I have got to hold my hands up and say fair play to the guy.

The former Rangers manager placed a £10k bet at the start of the season with Rod Stewart that Rangers would win the league.

And after Celtic’s win on Saturday, Souness has fessed up and is now looking to settle his wager with the world-famous musician.

The cash will be making its way to St Andrew’s Hospice by the end of the week and even I am big enough to applaud Souness for seeing it through.

I’m still laughing at his Celtic pain though so at least we have that.
