“I think he’s counting 55 titles in 2020 mate so they’re actually on 73” – A simple title question encourages bizarre Sevco fan reply

‘Going for 55’.

‘Get the 56’.

I think this is the only fanbase in the whole entire footballing world that actually keeps a running count of how many titles they have and number the next potential title.

In all my life, I have never, ever said, “Oh I can’t wait for 53” or “44 was a cracking title year!”.

It’s completely bizarre and we all know why they do it. It helps continue the survival myth when in truth, deep down, they know their club died and they only have one title to their short history.

So when this question was asked on Twitter:

If Celtic win the title this season, am I right in saying you’d have to be born around 1930 to have seen Rangers win more League titles than Celtic?

Well I’m near 40 and the majority of my life rangers have won more titles than Celtic, so no.

Near 40? I’m 45 and even I thought this sounded a bit strange. But it ges better:

Don’t think you’ve got my point, I’ve no actually looked into it, but in my life rangers have been ahead for the majority of it so have seen it, it’s been the norm. Maybe you want to rephrase your comment

Hold up. So he’s not even bothered to do his research before claiming his dead club won more titles than us? Bizarre.

And sure enough I didn’t have to work it out as the Celtic fans done it for me:

Celtic 19 (maybe 20 this season)
