David Tanner gets it spectacularly wrong with his latest nonsensical Celtic Scottish Cup comments

David Tanner on commentary duty for Celtic in the Champions League

The Scottish Cup Final is the showpiece of any season in Scotland but Celtic, it provides the opportunity to win a double and pile more misery on Rangers as a bonus.

The Ibrox club were getting above their station earlier this season as talk of a Quadruple (yeah, I know) swept Glasgow’s south side after Celtic were knocked out of the League Cup.

But Benfica had other ideas and the European meltdown they had over their Europe League exit was nothing compared the moon howling we witnessed when Ross County and Dundee put a huge dent in their league title hopes.

David Tanner embarrasses himself again talking about Celtic

But now, as Celtic wait to take on Rangers on the 25th of May, a fixture clash led David Tanner to have this epic brainwave which was shot down by the Celtic fans.

Why on earth would we want to move our game just to suit the English FA Cup? The Glasgow Derby has more passion and atmosphere than the soulless Manchester Derby where all they care about is money and, well, money.

And as the Celtic fans pointed out the error of Tanner’s ways, the former Sky pundit doubled down:

And if you were ever in any doubt as to what the Scottish David Tanner thinks of the standing of our game, have a read at this:

Our game is better, but not equal. That’s some right bootlicking mentality there. Stick to the day job Tanner, whatever that is.
