The job at Celtic that’s perfect for Ronny Deila after being sacked from Club Brugge

Former Celtic manager, Ronny Deila

News broke this afternoon that former Celtic manager, Ronny Deila, had been sacked by Belgian side, Club Brugge.

Deila took over the Belgian side after winning the MLS Cup with New York City and leaves the Juliper League side sitting nicely in fourth place albeit eleven points from top spot.

Regardless of what the media narrative and some Celtic fans say, Deila was a success at the club as he picked up two league titles that contributed to our second nine in a row and a League Cup.

In fact, many Celtic fans believe Deila was robbed of an opportunity to win a treble in his first season after some terrible (shock, horror) refereeing decisions in the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Inverness Caley Thistle.

Anyway, it seems that there is a job at Celtic that’s perfect for the former Hoops gaffer and Paul John Dykes of A Celtic State of Mind knows exactly what that is.

Ronny Deila and the Celtic Academy

Dykes said (A Celtic State of Mind), “Let’s also talk about the fact that our former manager Ronny Deila has been sacked by Club Brugge.

“I thought he was doing pretty well there. Obviously, a big move for him, a controversial move actually, when he got that job in Belgium.

“And he has been unceremoniously sacked and straight off the bat, and I’ve said this before, I think that Ronny Deila should be at the Celtic Academy.

“He is a star spotter. He is a manager who develops players. I think, Ronny Deila, the timing is wrong, he has went away and he’s proved himself away from Celtic Park in a couple of different jobs.

“He has won trophies in Scotland, in Norway and then America, and I’m pretty sure he’ll be wanting a top job.

“But I’d love to see someone like him in at Barrowfield as it’s going to be moving forward.”

Deila was the manager who introduced Kieran Tierney to the Celtic fold and also brought Callum McGregor through and also signed the likes of Jason Denayer who formed a good partnership with Virgil can Dijk.

The Norwegian also made a success out of Leigh Griffiths after the former Celtic striker became one of only a few Hoops players who hit 40 goals in a season.

Could Deila be a success at the Celtic Academy? All the signs point to yes, surely Celtic need to ask the question?
