The title race took a massive shot in the arm for Celtic as Rangers lost 2-1 to Motherwell at Ibrox.
Philippe Clement’s side buckled under the pressure of being chased by Celtic as Stuart Kettlewell did what Derek McInnes failed to do on Wednesday night and put the Ibrox club to the sword.
Goals from Theo Blair and Dan Casey stunned the Govan crowd as they slumped to a home defeat that, if Celtic win at Tynecastle tomorrow, will relinquish their two week spell at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
And the goal that did it? Casey’s 75th minute caused a chorus of boos around Ibrox after the 98th minute.
Have a look at the goal below:
Rangers keeper, Jack Butland, seemed to go down in instalments as Casey deftly nodded the winner home and that will surely now give Celtic a huge incentive heading to the capital.
Brendan Rodgers seems to have turned the tide with Celtic’s form in recent games and after the 7-1 pumping of Dundee on Wednesday night l, Celtic will head to Tynecastle full of confidence from the win and buoyed at the defeat of their rivals.
The door is open now for Celtic to reclaim their top spot, all Brendan Rodgers needs to do is make his team walk through it tomorrow lunchtime.
And with the run of fixtures we have right now, you wouldn’t bet against us extending that lead at the top of the table.
