‘Village idiot’ – Kris Boyd is rinsed for his ‘odious’ Celtic comments at the weekend

As Celtic grabbed a late win against Motherwell yesterday, Kris Boyd still found a way to make the headlines all about him.

The Sky pundit was the subject of ‘abuse’ by the Celtic fans as he sat in the gantry filling our ears with his usual biased guff about our team and he couldn’t even hold his council during a live broadcast to take a pop at the supporters after Adam Idah and Luis Palma sealed the three points at Fir Park.

And after the fans reportedly gave Boyd this so-called abuse, Boyd uses his platform at Sky to try and be the main event.

Kris Boyd takes aim at the Celtic fans

The former Oldco striker who racked up a £215,000 EBT that helped lead to the death of Rangers, fired back at the Hoops support who were celebrating the win, “There is a few happy people for cutting a five-point gap at the top down to two.”

It’s comments like this and Boyd’s inability to remain professional that make him a target for the Celtic supporters and if I was a senior man at Sky, I would be having a word with him.

His clown shoe antics make the broadcaster’s coverage of our game look amateurish but then, we all know how Sky hold our game in contempt so it’s probably working to their advantage having this guy on.

The Celtic Blog takes aim at Kris Boyd

My very good friend, James Forrest, was on this like a flash and delivered this scathing assessment of the Sky Sports pundit.

Forrest said (The Celtic Blog), “Sky’s resident Village Idiot [Kris Boyd], got some stick from our supporters and instead of ignoring it as professionals on that channel have had to do since time immemorial, he decided to respond like the grinning fool he is.

“The stick comes from his being an odious little man who can’t control himself when Celtic win and can’t contain himself when we don’t. That’s what it’s about. And in return for getting the stick, he does what? Acts like an even bigger idiot.”

I cannot argue with one sentence of that statement although I do suggest that if you want the full rendition of this outstanding rant on Boyd, visit Forrest’s site and have a read.

No doubt Boyd will be back in the chair again for next Sunday’s game against Hearts and I would not bet against him trying to grab the limelight once more.
