Brendan Rodgers’ demeanour in his latest Celtic press conferences speak of a man who looks like he has had enough.
The Irishman returned to Celtic with a mission to improve our results and standing in Europe but the summer recruitment conducted by the club has, by and large, hindered our progress in that department.
In fact, I would go as far as to say that poor recruitment has also made us regress domestically, never mind progress in Europe.
However, it is the Celtic manager’s job to deal with that and try and keep any misgivings he has with recruitment or anything else in-house.
Rodgers agreed to come back as the manager and Paul John Dykes has told him to stop complaining and get on with the job at hand.
Dykes said (A Celtic State of Mind), “There’s also the discussion to be had, and John pointed this out and touched on it.
“Brendan Rodgers, step up. None of this silliness. None of this going into a press conference and looking as if, ‘Woe betide me. I’ve been duped.’
“Listen, you’re in a job. Get the job done and win the league.
“You’ve still got the best squad in the division. However it doesn’t take away the disappointment of yet another poor transfer window, does it?”
And this is the point. The constant negativity from the Celtic manager is one of the reasons I believe the team has been underperforming.
Going public with the need to add quality to the squad undermines the players already at Celtic and has clearly had a negative effect on them.
So Rodgers, keep your issues in-house and as Paul John Dykes says, get on with the job!

Couldn’t agree more. The recruitment has been worse than woeful, but with the window closed, it is now up to the manager to get a better tune out of the players, starting today.
