VAR is certainly something isn’t it?
Hailed as the saviour to solve all our problems, Rangers fans wanted it in as they believed it would stop favourable decisions going our way despite getting penalty after penalty pre VAR, and Celtic fans thought their penalties would dry up as the referee would not be getting conned by the Ibrox players dropping like flies in the opposition penalty box.
Who would have thought it would have turned out this way?
Rangers still get their ‘favourable’ decisions whilst we get hammered with the sh*tty end of the VAR stick.
And you could take it if the decisions against us were warranted or at the very least consistent with the rest of the league.
But as it stands, they are neither.
All VAR has done is entrench the deep distrust fans have officials and Andy Walker reckons the new technology and how it’s being used in Scotland is doing our game no favours at all.
Speaking on The Go Radio Football Show, Walker said, “It’s not helping the game.
“It’s not helping as a spectacle and it’s certainly not helping if you’re in the stadium and you don’t really know what is going on. It’s not good.
“It’s not a good look.
It’s worse than that Andy. The way VAR is being utilised in our game makes us look amateurish to the point of embarrassing.
The SFA and the SPFL need to get their act together to solve this problem before it becomes a crisis.
