Davie Provan Predicts Timeline For Celtic Rebuild. And his Verdict Is Surprising

Much has been said about the size of Celtic’ rebuild and how long it would take to get the team to a level where they will be challenging for the title again.

Even the most ardent Celtic fan would have been worried at some stage over the summer as the apparent lack of speed at which the club was making signings hindered the teams progress in the Champions League.

However, with two league games and three European ties behind us, it does look as though the brand of football Celtic boss, Ange Postecoglou, wants to play is starting to take shape and after Sunday’s result against Dundee, ten goals in two games gives the Hoops fans a lot to ponder for what lays ahead this season.

Not only the Hoops fans though. Former Celtic midfielder, Davie Provan, said on Go Radio that the start of the season was huge for Ange and he had to get off to a good start.

With a loss away to Tynecastle the signs were looking ominous, but after Sundays win against Dundee, Provan was surprisingly more upbeat at the progress the team is making, “I said that the first few games are huge for him because he’s trying to buy himself some time and build a team.

Celtic won today and they’re all square on points. The Jablonec game, for me, I think for me is another chance to get players fitter and have a look at what he wants.

Celtic will certainly win that game. It’s another ninety minutes. He needs to see his players in competitive games, and it may not take as long as we think for him to remodel this team.”

I think the tell tale sign will be on Thursday night. If the team can replicate the performance of Sunday, the Celtic fans will have a lot to look forward to this season.
