Pundit Makes Incredible Claim About Kyogo. But Is It Too Far?
Kyogo Furuhashi has certainly taken Celtic by storm. A home debut hat trick, a European debut goal and his enthusiasm and energy have endeared him to the Celtic support like no other new signing ever has.
What struck me most is how he reminded me of a former Celtic legend with his style, his craft and panache and lets just say his goal celebration is very familiar.
We all know who we are talking about but is this kind of praise too much too soon?
Pundit, Noel Whelan speaking to Football Insider, also thinks that Kyogo reminds him of Swedish legend Henrik Larsson and although Kyogo has made a better start to his career at the Hoops than Larsson, is it too early to start comparisons after just two competitive starts?
Whelan thinks not, “What I loved about his performance was his willingness to run in behind.
“You could see how clever his movement is in the goals. The second one he faints the defender and checks in behind him for a tap in.
“You need somebody lively in and around that area and the last person I think they had like that was Henrik Larsson. He brings that excitement when he gets on the ball.
“He is always on the shoulder, thinking about getting behind the defence. If you get good service into him he is going to cause a lot of problems.
“He looks a really exciting player and an amazing signing. Celtic have just signed the new Larsson. He’s stepped up to the plate after what has been a rough start. Hopefully this is the beginning of a good run of form for Celtic.”
There certainly is something about Kyogo. He looks like he will be a star this season and if he is half the player Larsson turned out to be, the Hoops fans are in for a serious treat.
