‘Wow’ – What Robbie Savage phoned to tell Celtic hero Chris Sutton about Rangers’ Scottish Cup ‘humiliation’ vs Queen’s Park

Celtic fans have a possible treble-winning season to look forward to after Rangers were dumped out of the Scottish Cup.

Celtic battered Raith Rovers 5-0 at Celtic Park to book their place in the quarter final of the Scottish Cup on Saturday.

24 hours later, it was Rangers’ turn to keep their season alive with a win against Queen’s Park at Ibrox but, unfortunately for Philippe Clement, they failed.

Rangers tasted a bitter defeat to Queen’s Park to send thousands of Angry Bears towards Ibrox’s main gates to rage at the team whilst the Celtic fans cried with laughter at Scottish football’s worst result in the history of the game.

Reacting to it, Robbie Savage reveals what he said to Chris Sutton on a phone call 15 minutes before full time at Ibrox as he waxed lyrical about the result to former Celtic striker.

Robbie Savage tell’s Celtic’s Sutton he was blown away by ‘incredible’ Rangers defeat

Savage said to Sutton on BBC 606 (2m), “Oh, Christopher, what a result for Queen’s Park. I phoned you with 15 minutes ago. Did I say you watching this game?

“It was incredible. The penalty, which I didn’t think it was, the save from Ferry, a tip over as well. What a save.

“Where does that leave the Rangers manager, Philippe Clement?”

Sutton replied, “Um, who knows? First of all, congratulations, Queen’s Park, Callum Ferry, absolutely brilliant. Great result for Queen’s Park, Rob.

“They are a mid-table championship side. I think there’s a stat that this is the first time Rangers have lost a home Scottish Cup match against a side from a lower division. The first time in their history.

“What I would say, put this out there to Rangers fans, how embarrassing does it have to get for you? That was humiliation today on your own, Patch. Can Philippe Clement last this evening?

Savage ended it with simply, “Wow!”

This result will be talked about for years in Scotland.

Rangers are now not only the worst team in the history of the Champions League but they now hold the record of the worst-ever result in Scottish football.

What a time to be alive for the Celtic fans.
