’Much faster’ – The pacy left-back option Brendan Rodgers has Celtic fans probably didn’t even know about

It’s League Cup semi final day and Celtic face Aberdeen at Hampden for the 5:30pm kick-off.

Brendan Rodgers had the chance to get to the final of the only trophy that he missed out in last season as Celtic take on a confidence filled Aberdeen after they beat Rangers on Wednesday night.

The Celtic boss will have in his mind who to play after the win over Dundee midweek but should Rodgers need to, there is another left-back option he could use should he require a bit of pace against The Dons.

Auston Trusty could be a pacy Celtic left-back

Speaking on A Celtic State of Mind, John Hughes pinpointed Auston Trusty ad a fullback who is a ‘much faster’ option than Liam Scales.

Hughes told A Celtic State of Mind, “In terms of Trusty and Scales, it was interesting. The thing I thought about it was, I know the manager probably hadn’t given it much thought really and he just put Liam Scales out to left back when, you know, they made that switch by coming off and all.

“But for me, if you’re going to put someone in there, it would have been Trusty. Trusty is much faster. Liam Scales can’t play left back.

“He doesn’t have the speed for it. He barely has the speed for centre half. And only if he doesn’t get caught out, he’s got no recovery speed.

“Trusty’s got plenty of speed. So if you were going to put someone in there as a stand in, for me, it would be him.”
