Celtic finally got a result in the Champions League last night with an impressive draw against Atalanta and you would think that everyone would be delighted, right?
For weeks the club has been taking a battering from the media for Celtic’s performance in Dortmund and now that they have ended a horrific run of away defeats in the Champions League with a heroic performance in Italy, the club and Brendan Rodgers deserve a bit of praise.
Not if you’re Tom English. The BBC journalist took to social media to deliver his thoughts on the game and instead of congratulating Celtic, he decided to have a pop at Rodgers instead.
Tom English drags up Celtic boss’ post-match Dortmund comments
Taking to social media platform X English said, “’It’s not how we play. What do we do? Sit back, have 15% of the ball and probably lose 3-0, 4-0?’
“That was Brendan Rodgers post-Dortmund. Sometimes there’s nothing wrong with defending in numbers and riding your luck against better opposition. Maybe the penny has dropped at last.”
Celtic fans take issue with Tom English’s Rodgers jab
Not even a simple congratulations. Not a single bit of praise. No. The first thing that came to English’s mind was to drag up Rodgers’ Dortmund comments to try and take the moral high ground with the Celtic manager’s tactics.
It was pathetic and these Celtic fans let him know all about it.
Not sure that’s right. The difference was Dortmund buried every chance first half and demoralised Celtic. They still tried to play out and high press tonight, did well at times but didn’t look after the ball that well. They deserve credit.

Something tells me this Celtics fan is being sarcastic:
I'm glad we have you, Tom! Who else could put Brendan Rodgers in his place and teach him how to coach a team. Park the bus and hope for the best…Genius!!!

English put right on his stats:
We had double that at 35% and drew 0-0. Brendan said we need to be compact and attack when we can, be aggressive. We lost our way in Dortmund, and the side was “spooked”. It was a freak result. This side is growing.

And this Celtic fan got it spot on.
A typically misjudged and self- indulgent post by Tom English. This is why people don’t like you Tom. Have some humility and class.

It was a poor tweet and one not alien to English who loves to take a pop at Celtic whenever he can.
Brendan Rodgers will care not a jot about his opinion but he’s just shown himself up on what was a great night for Scottish football.

Can´t access Uncle Tom´s site as the Coward has blocked me – likes to give it out to Celtic ( & Lennon ) but can´t take criticism !
