Brendan Rodgers’ return to Celtic was always going to be a gamble for the Irishman.
The way he left the club in 2019 to join Leicester City still sticks in some supporters’ throats. And that is understandable.
However, despite that, Rodgers decided to take on the Parkhead hotseat once more with the proviso that he improved Celtic’s standing in Europe.
Despite finishing bottom of the Champions League group, Rodgers still amassed more points than Ange Postecoglou and got Celtic their first victory in the competition in over ten years.
But recent domestic performances including the lacklustre Ross County win on Saturday have left the fans venting their frustration at the lack of transfer activity this month.
Boos rang around certain sections of Celtic Park and it prompted Rodgers to come out and have what seemed like a go at the fans.
Brendan Rodgers has a go at the Celtic fans
After the defeat and upon hearing the boos, Rodgers said, “I’ve had that since I’ve been here.
“If it’s not the result, it’s me.
“If it’s not me, it’s the board.
“All we can do as a team is win games and try to improve and develop and win – and that’s what the team has done.” [The Sun]
You’re right Brendnan, the team have but it’s getting done poorly.
Celtic fans raise concerns over Brendan Rodgers
After that interview, it did set alarm bells ringing from the Celtic fans. For a manager that is trying to show the fans he wants to be successful for them, to come out so brazenly and seemingly criticise is highly unusual.
It could be that he is frustrated with the lack of transfer funds. Or the lack of quality players. Or it could be simply that Brendan Rodgers is regretting coming back to Celtic as these fans think:
Don't think it was about money.

It was his ego. No one else was offering him a job after the Leicester disaster. Celtic have made him relevant again.
He'll string it out for as much as he can get out of it, money, profile, reputation restoration and increase in his influence.
I think he genuinely regrets coming back feel he wants it to work but knows deep down that it won’t with this board

Rumours I heard was only back cause family wanted back to Scotland that's why it's not on his terms, the guy should be demanding players and it's not happening tells you the board still running things there way

Guys got a multi million pound property portfolio. He could get 3m a season managing in the championship.

He’s been undersold by our leaderless club
I believe he was wanting to make amends after his ignominious exit. He realised that all the glory he had achieved first time round was totally tarnished and he looked at Beale & Co. and thought, this will be a skoosh. The board sold him a lie. Et tu, Desmond.

Let’s hope it’s not any of these and Rodgers was just having a bad day because if this title is to be won, Celtic need everyone pulling in the right direction.
And that starts with the manager and the fans.
Found that a really interesting read. I was delighted when Rodgers returned. I thought he was the best qualified manager who was available following the departure of Ange. But, he has never shown the sort of enthusiasm for this time round. He could be wanting out,and in a way, who can blame him. The club appears to be going backwards. Loads of money in the bank but no ambition to match it. Recruitment is all over the place, and if the fans have had a belly full, nobody should be surprised if the manager has lost his mojo. It hurts to say it but, we could easily lose the league this season which should not even be a conversation. So I wouldn’t be surprised if Brendan is on his way out. Never thought I’d be saying that so soon after he was reappointed. Growing more disillusioned with the club by the day HH
