Speaking about James McCarthy in Football Insider, McAvennie said, “I am disappointed because he came in and was the kind of player I thought we needed.
“He is the kind of player I thought would have thrived, I thought he was wonderful.
“I do not know what has happened to him. He came in on a long-term contract so it will need to be a good move. . To get that kind of money and get ten minutes here and there, it is not ideal for him or the club.
“Do you want to just keep taking money off the club and not doing anything?“
What do you suggest he does Frank? Turn up for training and play for free?
It’s down to whoever sanctioned this deal that should be lambasted not the player.
This is just another headline chasing piece of nonsense that is just typical of this rag and it is little wonder that McAvennie along with Football Insider has no credibility amongst the Celtic support.

I think your a bit harsh here. We bought him as backup during a fragile period. I don’t blame James but he is clearly only with us as an employee now. I’m not a professional footballer but I would imagine wanting a game every now and then.
