Tom English highlights a ‘Herculean’ transfer problem for Celtic

For Celtic to progress in the Champions League, we need to invest in better players. Of that there is no doubt.

That is not to say that the players we have are poor, it just means that the ones we have just need a little push to get us into the next level of European football.

One or two signings of extra quality will just be enough to see us over the line.

But in that positions?

Tom English reckons that Celtic need to get that elusive defensive midfielder to help bolster next seasons capmpaign.

Speaking on BBC Sportsound, English said, “All if his players have to improve. They all have to get better. They all have to mature and learn that there is repercussions for giving the ball away.

There’s repercussions at this level for leaving big spaces for maybe getting the balance between going for a second goal and keeping it a bit tighter at the back.

By being too gung ho at one nil to go for two nil. All of those things they need to need to get right.

I think at this level they need either a Hatate or O’Riley to improve.

I think what the one thing that this team needs in Europe is the need to go out and find what they found in Kyogo, they need to find a guy, a defensive midfielder for the same price range to go into the middle of the park and become absolutely sensational in the middle of the park just like Kyogo can be up front.

But that is a Herculean task.”

If anything we know about Ange is that he is a master at identifying talent.

Look at his strike rate so far. Barring Ideguchi, pretty much all of his signings have been a success.

If anyone can find that ‘Kyogo like’ midfielder, then you can bet Ange can.
