“He is in demand” – Sporting Director says Celtic linked player is available

As Celtic prepare for life without Chris Jullien, it seems that linked defender, Malick Thiaw, could be available for us, but only at the right price.

It was reported that Thiaw was a target for the hoops and that he would be making his way to Glasgow as Jullien prepared for life in the Bundesliga.

But the collapse of that move was thought to have scuppered any chance of Celtic signing Thiaw. Until now.

According to the Daily Record, Schalke are prepared to sell and it seems that they are opening the door for his exit after Sporting Director Rouven Schroeder’s latest comments, “There is no such thing as an abrupt no. We have always said that we will deal with offers that come in.

“If the overall theme fits, we’ll also think about it. Malick is here and I think he suits us very well in the Bundesliga.

Nevertheless, he is of course in demand because of the Under-21s and his performances.”

It will be interesting to see how this story develops over the coming weeks and to see if Jullien needs to move in order for Celtic to bring in another defender but at least we know that Thiaw is available if Celtic can make the right offer.
