Alex McLeish makes bizarre Liverpool/Chelsea/Celtic claim

On their way to Paradise

The appointment of Mark Lawwell certainly raised a few eyebrows this week.

Many Celtic bloggers believe its a move destined to fail and that Lawwell was hired simply because of his dad, others believe it’s a great appointment because of his past history with Ange Postecoglou.

But not many have thought this way about it, which makes me wonder what on earth Alex McLeish was talking about.

Speaking to Football Insider, McLeish was talking about the appointment of the new Chief Scout when he said, “I think it’s a great asset.

“We were speaking about Liverpool and Diaz and the fact it was never in the newspapers. They’ll do their work behind closed doors and they have relationships with teams.

“I read an article that Klopp’s team were liaising with Porto already and they had a good relationship.

“That’s exactly what the City group has, there will be a big relationship between all those clubs and the group itself.

“So I’m sure it would be professional of them to be saying: ‘Listen, we’ve got a player that’s not quite ready for us to come to you. Have a look and we’ll see.’

“I’m sure they’ll flag them up for each other, it’s kind of a modern-day trend. Chelsea have had all these links as well with teams abroad.”

Is it just me or was that just a random ramble spouted just to fill out some column inches?

I mean, at least do some groundwork before spouting rubbish about connections to clubs or possible link ups. If anything, it would be the continuation of our partnership with Man City that would continue rather than just some made up fantasy involving Liverpool and Chelsea.

Absolutely bizarre.
