“With all due respect” – Former Celtic target explains snub

Ange Postecoglou has probably had various transfer targets since he joined Celtic.

Some you win, some you lose.

But it’s the way he conducts his business that leaves many hacks in Scotland frustrated at not knowing what the Celtic manager is up to.

It’s great because it explains why there was such a clamour surrounding the possibility of signing Riley McRee.

McRee was all but in name a Celtic player according the media in Scotland.

So desperate where they to claim the ‘scoop’ they all jumped the gun only for McRee to sign for Middlesbrough leaving them with egg on their faces.

And here, the midfielder explains why he choose the Teesside club ahead of Paradise, “With all due respect to Celtic and Ange, my ambition is to play in the Premier League.

The position Middlesbrough are in and being in England, I feel like it was the best opportunity of getting to where I want to be.”

Fair enough but many would argue that his best way of accessing the EPL would have been to join Celtic and earn his move that way.

European football, chances of silverware whilst gaining far more exposure than he ever would in England’s second tier shows the Aussies lack of knowledge about the size of our club.

Let’s hope he is not left with egg on his face as Boro sit seventh in the Championship, two points off the play offs.
