There had been a lot of hyperbole surrounding Ange Postecoglou when he was first appointed as Celtic manager.
No one in the media gave us any hope of winning anything, never mind the title, and many predicted that the Hoops would be luck to be within touching distance of *Rangers.
But what we are seeing now is a lot of backtracking from certain members of the media. Postecoglou will never get an apology (which he deserves) from certain Scottish hacks but, I suppose, the fact that he has shoved all those early season snide remarks up their collective hoops, must give the gaffer a private feeling of satisfaction.
But there is one journalist who consistently tweets negatively about our club and although in this particular post, he says that Ange deserves manager of the year, it was clearly typed through gritted teeth. Or with his forehead. You choose:
I mean, why not just say “Congratulations to Ange” or “Well deserved”.

Was there any need to offer this grudging admission that he, along with others, were simply wrong about the Celtic manager?
Of course not, but when you write articles like this:
Literally your own words Ewan 😂 pic.twitter.com/gYmkMZoEHH

You do tend to look a bit foolish. But as he doesn’t write the headlines it’s not his fault right?
Wrong:
An epic turnaround sounds pretty extraordinary to me pic.twitter.com/9LPt6AcynJ

A wit bit embarrassing that. And so were these quotes, taken directly from his own article:
“Gerrard has elevated Rangers to a position where it would be an almighty shock if they did not retain the league flag.”
“That branding should be attached to another Rangers championship canter. If it isn’t, Postecoglou will have performed an epic turnaround.”
And this wee strange one, “Postecoglou has looked disillusioned, frustrated and agitated even before a league ball is kicked.” I’ve never seen the gaffer look anything of the sort. Even in the early stages of the season.
And the Celtic fans had a field day reminding him how to do his job:
If you don’t agree with the headlines then raise it with the writers. PS the article is far more damning than the headline.

Pretty sure you claimed he’d need a miracle at the start of the season… what Postecoglou has done is extraordinary in my opinion. Complete rebuild of a squad, and not only challenged a dominant unbeaten rangers side, but overtook them at the first attempt. Incredible job.

Ewan, you never wrote the headline, but you did say this: “That branding should be attached to another Rangers championship canter. If it isn’t, Postecoglou will have performed an epic turnaround.”
I’d bracket an “epic turnaround“ alongside “extraordinary” and a “miracle.” pic.twitter.com/QMjW0mxB4b

What Celtic have achieved over the last 11 years is by far extraordinary. Scotland’s best team. The facts are there to be seen. 🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪🇮🇪
