“There is going to be significant financial implications for Celtic” – Completely bizarre anti Celtic comments from financial expert

I’ve seen some spin on the recent developments in the Sydney Cup row but this one takes the biscuit.

With Rangers pulling out of the tournament and possibly looking at severe financial penalties for doing so, this finance expert decided that it was important to point out the damage it will do to Celtic.

Unbelieveable.

Celtic will still reap their original financial benefits for the tour. You would have to assume that once the contract is signed, it cannot be changed for the club just because their rivals sh*t the bed and decided to no show because of pressure from their fans.

But yet, here we are.

Football Insider expert Dr Dan Plumley came out with this belter:

“It is a blow for both clubs.

“For Celtic, they can still go and there will still be some commercial benefit for that.

“But the commercial opportunity would have been far greater had both clubs gone.

“The Sydney Super Cup was looking to capitalise on the Old Firm rivalry and the association between Celtic and Rangers.

“There is going to be significant financial implications for Celtic in that the exposure they will receive is going to be impacted by Rangers not being there.

“They have still got a lot of fans in Australia, there’s no doubt about that.

“But teams need to put on a show, and that show would have been better with both teams there. You suspect this is just the beginning of the fallout.“

Dan needs to really take a look at himself. Not only has he misread this situation but he also quoted old accounts where Celtic recorded a loss of £11.5m to try and back up his sensationalist point.

Unless Dan never wrote it and his comment was subject to editorial ‘changes’ to make it read better.

Surely that never happens…….
