“National obsession”, “Elite mentality” – Max Rushden’s outstanding Ange Postecoglou tweet

Ange Postecoglou is a national phenomenon for Australia.

Widely regarded as THE best coach to ever export from Down Under, Postecoglou has taken Scottish football by storm just as he did back in the early 2000’s in Australia.

The Celtic fans fell in love with the man before his football mainly because he speaks the football language but also because of his immigrant past which thousands of fans can relate to.

But let’s stick to the football.

We were first introduced to Ange ball in the 6-0 drubbings of Ross County and Dundee. It was at that those moments the Celtic fans grew ever closer to the Aussie boss as this relatively ‘unknown’ coach showed us football the Celtic way.

He not only did that, but he also gave us something that had been sorely lacking for some time at the club.

Someone who would put the Scottish media in their place.

For too long, and as soon as Ange took over, the media in this country were allowed snide and cheap jibes at the club.

And it started relatively early in Postecoglou’s tenure. But those cheap jibes slowly dissipated the more the Celtic boss embarrassed these ‘journalists’ at every press conference.

We are now at a point that even Hugh Keevins avoids making reference to his Aussie accent on radio. Which again, was embarrassing for him and the radio station he works at.

This is where we are at with the media now. Respect attained firstly for the manager and secondly for the club.

All because of Ange.

And Stan Sport Football, accompanied by Rushden, will be covering Ange in a Stan Sport Football special just prior to the big Europa Conference League kick off.
