Former Celtic star is stunning bookies favourite for Hibs vacancy

The Hibs vacancy has many implications for Celtic.

Why?

With the upcoming Premier League Cup Final on Sunday, it seems that Celtic could face their opponents managerless or with an ex Celt at the helm.

So far we have had Gordon Strachan, Neil Lennon, John Kennedy and Ronny Deila all linked to the vacant Edinburgh job but so far nothing has materialised.

This afternoon former Celtic striker, Shaun Maloney, has emerged as the front runner in the bookies odds to replace Jack Ross in the Leith dug out and it remains to be seen if he will be in place in time for Sunday’s cup final.

Priced at 2/1 with McBookie, Maloney is streets ahead of nearest rival Kjetil Knutsen (6/1) and fellow former Celtic colleagues Neil Lennon (7/1), John Kennedy (8/1), Ronny Deila (10/1), Paul Lambert (161/1) and even Scott Brown (20/1).

This news may disappoint Celtic fans who have been impressed with Maloney’s knowledge of the game when he appears as a pundit on Sky Sports as he was once touted for the Director of Football role in the summer.

Should the appointment take place, it would certainly add to the occasion of this weeks cup final at Hampden.
