SKY SPORTS JOURNALIST CLEARS UP “THAT” INFAMOUS FERENCVAROS PRESS CONFERENCE

We all remember that press conference. It was the one that said “The ten is gone”.

Not only did Celtic’s Champions League ambitions fritter away the moment Lennon claimed “there are players that don’t want to be here” but so did the squads respect and any ambition the club had of making history.

Players seemingly downed tools and many fans were left wondering who Lennon was talking about.

There were many suspicions. Edouard and Christie two of the main suspects to whom Lennon was referring but Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph, speaking on the Only As Good As Your Last Game podcast, said that it was two players involved, one wasn’t the Hoops top scorer, “Kristoffer Ajer was one of two players that we understand had spoken to Celtic. Ajer and N’tcham were the two players had spoken to Celtic last summer and said that if a bid comes in for our player, would they be allowed to leave.

“This was after the Ferencvaros game. Neil Lennon brought it to light after the Ferencvaros game almost, using it as an excuse that there’s players here that are wanting to leave.

“But no bids materialised for for either player. No bids came in and AC Milan we’re tracking Kristoffer Ajer quite heavily, and they were prepared to put in a 15 million pound bid for him.

AC Milan ended up getting for Bakaye Traore on loan from Chelsea, so they are trying to buy him with. So they’ve ended their interest in Ajer.

So there you have it. Two players, one manager and an almighty mess that undone the ten in a row season. Ajer looks to be on his way to either the EPL or Bundesliga and N’tcham by all accounts could be heading to Greece on a free.

But it all could have been so different if it wasn’t for THAT press conference.

  1. What a load of rubbish . Yes players were unhappy ,the establishment was against the club (Media & Referees). We stepped out of line and were hammered , every other team were as bad but we just got jumped on to ensure we didn’t do the 10. It was not the in the SFA s interest that Celtic created history. Lennon did not have the players backing because he didn’t have the board behind him. He was only a figure head and had no power to change things that were thrust upon him.
