Referees are not biased? This incredible 2018 Follow Follow thread says otherwise

Ibrox Stadium

I remember someone telling me about a report (or was it an ex ref) that claimed over 60% of referees support Rangers.

Now I remember. It was on BBC Sportsound where former former ref Steve Conroy made the claim live on air. I’m surprised it wasn’t edited out to be fair.

The most interesting thing is I found the info on, no surprises here, Follow Follow.

Conroy said at the time when asked if referees let their allegiances to their club affect their decisions, ““On the park, absolutely not. I’m utterly convinced.

“Somebody asked me previously if I’d ever encountered cheating openly in refs. No is the honest answer.

“Things happen far too quickly, they’re far too unpredictable to have anything in your mind other than calling it as you see it.”

Aye ok. Of course they didn’t. So that revelation sparked my interest. So I googled ‘rangers after dinner speaker’ and the top result was a thread on that cesspit of a fan forum in 2018 listing off former professional referees as good after dinner speakers.

Bobby Tait, Willie Young and Kenny Clark were but a few named.

But no, referees have never been biased. Ever. Oh no.
