Being sacked is one thing. But having to travel back to the Midlands from London with your team when they all know you are sacked is another.
How awkward must Steven Gerrard feel now?
After his 3-0 mauling at Craven Cottage, it seems that the sack rumours the Villa board had to deny all but two days ago have come to fruition as the trigger was pulled just after full time tonight.
David Ornstein from The Athletic revealed the events that had Gerrard travelling back with the Viall players on the team bus:
But, unsurprisingly, the news was met with derision and relief by the Villa fans:
