Ah well. It was good while it lasted.

Giovanni van Bronkhorst has been sacked by Rangers this morning in a move that will upset the Celtic fans.

The now ex-Rangers manager has been let go this morning after not only a disappointing league campaign so far, but for also landing the Ibrox club with the worst ever Champions League team in the history of the competition tag.

Gio took over after Steven Gerrard left the club last season for Aston Villa whilst they were seven points ahead in the league.

With Celtic still rebuilding the squad after the ill-fated Neil Lennon era, Gio was a cert to retain the league with the Hoops losing three of their first opening seven games.

Whilst Ange was being tipped for the sack before Christmas, the Rangers manager was being touted as an ‘upgrade on Gerrard’ by not only the Govan clubs fans, but the media as well.

Oh, how things have changed.

Chris Jack of the Herald broke the news no less than ten minutes ago that the board have now taken the step to let the Dutchman go in a bid to save their season.

It will be interesting now to see who replaces Gio and all eyes will now be on the Rangers board to get the next appointment absolutely spot on or they will need to deal with a load of angry Bears at their door!
