Celtic captain, Callum McGregor

Celtic captain Callum McGregor’s Glasgow Derby dismissal has annoyed Rangers fans

Celtic captain Callum McGregor has broken the Rangers support after his big game comments sent Ibrox fans into a state of denial ahead of the big Glasgow Derby.

After Celtic beat Stuttgart in the Europa League, McGregor was then asked about the upcoming Ibrox game and as the Celtic captain said that the Aberdeen game was just as big as today’s Rangers fixture.

McGregor told the BBC, ““They’re all big games, but what I will say is, the game on Wednesday night after that is a big game as well.

“We know where we are in terms of the context of the season. We know we have to win enough games to win the league.

“That’s where we want to be. The next game is the biggest and obviously that comes on Sunday.

“I don’t think we deserved to lose the game at the weekend.

Of course, we tweeted McGregors interview into X, and the Rangers fans were in complete denial as they missed the context of the Celtic legend’s comments.

Rangers fans in denial as they miss what the Celtic captain actually said

It’s clear the BBC interviewer was trying to get McGregor to talk about the Rangers game as the biggest of the season, and of course, it is.

However, using his experience and nous, the Celtic skipper took the pressure of the Hoops squad as he said the Aberdeen game at Pittordrie was just as big as the Glasgow Derby, and the Ibrox support simply just didn’t get it.

Our tweet racked up over 112,000 views, 564 likes, 146 bookmarks and plenty of comments from the deluded Rangers support:

One fan even tagged in help from a fellow bear:

Indeed. Context is everything and it appears that in the run up to the game, Rangers fans missed it, or are just in plain denial.
