Celtic fans demand SFA action as John Beaton’s Motherwell red card shambles makes mockery of Trusty ruling

Celtic fans have demanded action from the SFA after John Beaton’s red card performance in Aberdeen’s Scottish Cup win over Motherwell.

The SFA whistler issued three red cards as Beaton became the centre of attention as the Dons beat Motherwell 2-0.

And one of the red cards particularly irked Celtic supporters, especially after Auston Trusty suffered the same fate just weeks ago in Celtic’s draw at Hearts.

John Beaton’s Motherwell red card makes a mockery over Trusty Celtic ruling

With both Aberdeen and Motherwell down to 10 men, Beaton stepped forward and did this.

Clearly believing the incident deserved a yellow card, Beaton made himself look foolish as Celtic supporters made comparisons with his decision to get Trusty sent off at Tynecastle.

Beaton’s performance has grabbed the headlines, but for Celtic fans, they want action from the SFA as they have clearly had enough of watching these kinds of decisions.

Celtic fans call out John Beaton’s red card Pittodrie performance

@Celticbhoy1983 was first to call out Beaton’s shambolic Motherwell red cards and said, “How is that a red.

“Look how quickly the Motherwell boy gets the ball and that’s not even taking into account the two defenders and distance from goal. How do they keep getting it wrong?

“It needs to be obvious he was getting a chance on goal.”

@billybhoy999 was fuming as he pointed out, “Beaton is a disgrace of a referee, a joke figure.

“Sadly he will have involvement in the destination of the SPFL title, because he is also a cheating *** *******!” We’ll let you figure out the rest of that tweet!

The next tweet perfectly sums up fan feeling towards Beaton:

@sloanybhoy7 has a message for the SFA, “Beaton, along with Dickinson, should never referee a game again.”

A Celtic fan expressing criticism towards referee John Beaton, describing him as arrogant and insufferable, with a request for him to be removed from officiating significant games.

What the SFA said about Auston Trusty’s Celtic red card

The SFA threw out Celtic’s Trusty appeal and backed Beaton’s VAR decision.

A statement on the SFA website said, “Outcome: Claim dismissed. Red card for sending off offence A4 – Denying the opposing team or an opponent a goal or an obvious goal scoring opportunity as defined by Law 12, is re-imposed with immediate effect.

“£650 Appeal Deposit to be paid within 30 days.”

It will be very interesting to see if Motherwell appeal this and what the SFA’s ruling will be.
