The Kyogo Furuhashi to Celtic rumours have been a bit of a fiasco last weekend.
Kyogo’s Celtic return was supposed to be close to being completed as reports suggested the Japanese striker was set for a sensational return.
However, Martin O’Neill ended that chatter as the Celtic manager said that Kyogo wanted to stay at Birmingham to prove himself.
But that doesn’t seem to be the whole story as Paul Larkin shares what he understands about the failed Celtic deal.
Celtic ‘bypassed’ Birmingham City to contact Kyogo Furuhashi
Celtic’s need for a striker has never been so great. Martin O’Neill has already fired a message to the board that is very reminiscent of what previous Hoops bosses have said.
But as the fallout of this story continues, what Larkin wrote is very concerning for Celtic supporters this January.
Larkin wrote on his Subtack portfolio, “We have already seen the fiasco of the Kyogo approach where, because of previous strained relations due to the Yang deal, the board decided to bypass Birmingham City and go direct to the player who initially assumed Birmingham had granted permission.
“Once Birmingham City found out they pulled the plug immediately.”
Celtic ‘had no players lined up’ for the January transfer window
An absolute embarrassment from a Celtic board who want to be ‘world-class in everything’ they do. But the red neck doesn’t stop there.
Larkin continued, “This was after Celtic had already briefed the media on Kyogo’s imminent return.
“Look deep into that and you realise Celtic had no players lined up for January despite the glaring deficiencies in the team and the clusterf–k of a summer transfer window.”
This is alarming for the Celtic supporters who are now entering a full calender year since Kyogo left the club and the board have failed to replace him.
With just under three weeks of the window left, the signs do not look good that Celtic are even close to signing a new number nine.
