Five big favourites emerge for Celtic manager’s job after Wilfried Nancy’s sacking

Celtic have sacked Wilfried Nancy and already there are five people who have become favourites for the job.

Celtic’s defeat to Rangers appears to have been the last straw for the board after they pulled the trigger on the Nancy experiment.

Nancy oversaw six defeats in eight fixtures as he becomes the Celtic manager with the shortest-ever reign at the club.

And as the ink is barely even dry on Nancy’s compensation package, five big favourites have already emerged to replace the former Celtic boss.

Martin O’Neill leads the favourites to replace Wilfried Nancy at Celtic

Hardly surprising that, is it? Martin O’Neill races into the lead as the favourite to replace Nancy as the new Celtic manager.

The Northern Irishman enjoyed a brief, but succesful, stint in interim charge before the Frenchman arrived at Celtic in December.

Ans now, less than six weeks later, with Nancy gone, O’Neill is hotly fancied to take over the role permanently.

So with that in mind, here are the top five managers tipped to take over at Celtic.

Ange Postecoglou enters the Celtic manager race

Shaun Maloney is next on the Oddschecker list to replace Nancy with Ange Postecoglou racing up in third place.

Former Cardiff boss Brian Bary-Murphy is the surprising addition to the list with Robbie Keane coming in at fifth place.

  • Martin O’Neill – 8/15
  • Shaun Maloney – 4/1
  • Ange Postecoglou – 5/1
  • Brian Barry-Murphy – 12/1
  • Robbie Keane – 14/1

Also in the running is Scott Brown [14/1], Kjetl Knutsen [14/1] and even former Rangers man, Kevin Muscat [14/1].

Whoever gets the job could become an instant Celtic hero if he manages to turn around this shocking run of form and win the league title at the end of the season.
