Former Celtic manager Gordon Strachan has delivered his Hearts title verdict, but as a fan of Hibs.
Strachan is a Celtic hero after he helped to not only deliver silverware, but he also took the Hoops out of the Champions League group stage for the first time in the club’s history.
Now that Hearts appear to be in the mix to challenge Celtic for the title, Strachan has shared what he thinks of the Tynecastle club’s chances.
And as a Hibs fan, the former Celtic manager is hurting.
Celtic hero Gordon Strachan says Hearts title win would be ‘fantastic’
With the gap closing at the top each week, Strachan reckons that Hearts splitting the two Glasgow clubs would a ‘dream’ for Scottish football.
Strachan told Boyle Sports: “It would be huge and it would be the dream for everyone there to split up the Old F-rm.
“For a while, everyone’s dream was to be second between Celtic and Rangers. But due to circumstances at both Rangers and Celtic, there’s a perfect storm at the moment that allows a team to come through this gap.
“They haven’t been lucky at Hearts, they’ve prepared for this.
“With Tony Bloom and Ann Budge, who have done a lot of good work there, and Derek McInnes going in and the way they’ve signed players, it’s a perfect storm for them right now to sail through it.
“If they can do that, that would be fantastic. For me, as a Hibs supporter as a kid, this is the worst thing that could happen – I’m always joking.
“But as a Hibs fan, I’ve still got a lot of Hibs mates that find it difficult to deal with.”
Strachan is also a Celtic supporter after his days at Parkhead made him fall in love with the club.
And whilst Scottish football might well want Hearts to win the league, one thing is for sure, Strachan has two reasons for wanting Celtic to win the title.
