Ibrox Stadium

Celtic fans will be in tears as Follow Follow reveals the ‘frightening’ state of Ibrox

Celtic fans love a good meltdown from the Rangers supporters over on Follow Follow.

The crazy fan forum has a history of Celtic paranoia and meltdown’s whenever the Ibrox club suffers at the hands of the Bhoys.

But this time, the meltdown is about the current state of Ibrox as Rangers fans on Follow Follow share the absolute state of the ground they go to watch their games.

Indeed, the state of Ibrox is nothing new for Celtic supporters, the summer before last brought many moments of hilarity after the Copeland Road upgrade calamity.

Celtic fans, and this site, sometimes joke about the state of Rangers’ home stadium, Ibrox.

But it seems that on Follow Follow, it’s no laughing matter.

The first poster said, “I can’t believe that it’s been over a year and we still don’t have a roof in the Copland concourse and still got loose wires hanging.”

A user comment in a chat discussing the delay in construction and loose wires in a sports facility.

And a reply said, “Absolutely. It’s relatively low level stuff like this that won’t cost the earth to fix pulls the whole stadium down. There’s no excuse for it.”

Another Rangers fans said, “No matter the list that we have and the list the board/owners have, it’s obvious that the lack of investment in our stadium and it’s footprint over the years frightening.”

As another put a long-winded reply and said, “I still feel the stadium is in generally good nick. But the areas around the stadium are to me more obviously in need of repair.

“I usually arrive at Ibrox at the subway station and walk up and round back of Copland to meet mates at old school for a blether before going in.

“The surface around there is, quite frankly, a disgrace and I’m amazed none of our older supporters hasn’t taken a tumble in the pitted surfaces. Really needs addressed before someone does.

“As for stadium, I’ve said before on here. That if money was no object, I’d rather a brand new oval shaped stadium was tacked on behind the Bill Struth star pushing the stadium north into the Industrial park behind Sandy Jardine.

“So that the main stand would still be our front but the old stands in it would be removed (where viable) and converted to areas for supporters/museum/hospitality suites and lead you thru to the new main stand.

“I’d always imagined the space between old main stand and new main star as some sort of huge atrium.
anyway. One can dream.”

As another Rangers fan put, “No matter the list that we have and the list the board/owners have, it’s obvious that the lack of investment in our stadium and it’s footprint over the years is frightening.

And it seems that even at last weekend’s game there was issues, “Did anybody else in MFF see the water p-shing out from above at half time on Sunday? Wasn’t even raining and it was non stop for a good five minutes. Hoping it’s just a burst pipe or something.

A user named OutOfAmo comments on a forum regarding unexpected water discharge during a match.

The 49ers Enterprises have just wasted £20m on the Rangers first-team this season trying to catch up with Celtic.

How much are they going to have to spend fixing a stadium that is clearly run down, by the accounts from their own fans?
