Former SFA referees’ embarrassing back-peddling on Auston Trusty spotted by Celtic fans

Celtic defender Auston Trusty has certainly caused a proper Rangers meltdown this week.

The big American has not only broken the Rangers support and their club, Trusty has also caused a meltdown outside the Ibrox corridors.

First off, Daily Record journalist Scott McDermott couldn’t hide his Celtic pain as he had a wee dig at Trusty whilst talking about Rangers’ upcoming Europa League game against Roma.

And now it’s the turn of The Ref’s View on X as they seem to take an about turn on their initial verdict on Trusty’s challenge on Jack Butland, and Celtic fans appear to know why.

Former SFA ref’s appear to bend on their initial verdict on Celtic’s Auston Trusty’s Jack Butland challenge

Celtic fans all know who runs this account and for some reason The Ref’s View felt they had to qualify their initial reaction to Auston Trusty’s challenge on Jack Butland.

Taking to X, the former referees said, “Just to reaffirm – we thought Trusty foul was an initial Yellow Card.

“Once reviewed it was clearly a Red Card. That’s what VAR is for.

“To allow a review if a C&O error made & it was a huge error.

“The culpable ones are the 2 VAR’s who watch it numerous times & agree!! Dreadful.”

Some Celtic fans on the thread seem to think that they changed their minds on their initial verdict because of the amount of Rangers fans piling onto them.

If that’s the case then that’s weak and that could effectively ruin their credibility amongst the Celtic supporters moving forward.

Or the cynical view many Celtic supporters could take is that they simply genuinely changed their mind on their original decision a full 36 hours later. 36 hours.

I’ll let you all be the judge of that.
